Volunteer • Here are some ways in which you can help: • Volunteer on a weekly basis (same time, same day) • Become a homeroom parent (plan parties, call for volunteers, start the phone tree, etc.) • Volunteer for special events (could be messy) • Come and have lunch with your child (no reservations needed (unless you want to order lunch)
Help your child with homework
Homework • There will be homework every day, Monday through Thursday. • Please check your child’s homework planner and sign every night. • Word Study • Cursive • Math • Reading • Other Projects (Occasionally)
Family Journal • Sent home Friday • Students write a minimum of five sentences about the week • Written in letter format- can be to anyone! • Person must write back • Anything can be added! This is a personal collection of 3rd grade memories and a great way to communicate with others about what is happening in school!
Grading • Homework Assignments: • ✓+Submitted on time, well done, neat, complete, 90% correct • ✓Handed in on time, complete, 80% correct • ✓- Late, incomplete, or mostly incorrect • Tests & Quizzes: • Traditional grading scale, point value will vary • Projects & Activities: • Assessed with rubrics that are specific to the particular task • Please refer to the SCASD grade profile for details about how letter grades are assigned
