This project aims to develop a robust data management system that allows for selective deletion of channels and time ranges, as well as the ability to edit values and provide operator-supplied notes for data. The prototypes include a channel-based archiving support system and set archive engine, with ongoing development efforts to improve data taking engines and graphical viewers.

Data Aging - Euthanasia Bob Dalesio
Data Management - Channel Data • Allow recovery of unused data space • Allow selective delete of channels • Allow selective delete of time ranges • Allow winnowing of data • by dates • keeping statistics • preserving only every Nth sample • Provide operator supplied notes for data
Data Management - Set Data • Allow selective delete of channels • Allow selective delete of time ranges • Allow editing of values • Provide operator supplied notes for data
Conclusion Bob Dalesio
Status of Prototyping Efforts Channel Based • Frequency archiving supporting up to 10K samples per second on a SPARC 10 available for beta test • Archive viewer for frequency data available for beta test - plot of 4 channels with 1K samples each in under 4 seconds • Data management only recovers unused disk space • New requirements and feedback on prototypes needed from users • Integrated with XARR data viewer from JLab
Status of Prototyping Effort Set Based • Save set archive engine saving up to 5K samples (synchronous from a 10 Hz set of channels) • 5K samples take 2 seconds to collect and write to disk • Access for viewer and creation of restore and reboot files Not Yet Implemented
Development Efforts • Data taking engines being developed at LANL, graphical engine for UNIX developed at JLAB • Archive record operational at DESY - buffer server? • Prototypes of the frequency archiver are running at JLAB • PC based archive viewers being prototyped at LANL • Client/server access to the archive data being developed at JLAB • Distributed data taking viewer being developed at JLAB
