  3. The Covenant Focuses on Monotheism Belief in one god Why did God take care of people? Abraham promised to obey him In return, God promises to protect Abraham and descendants The Covenant Mutual promise/agreement between God and people Symbol was Circumcision

  4. New Covenant In Exodus Story Moses leading the Hebrew out of slavery in Egypt Moses brings down Gods laws from Mount Sinai Israelites believed laws formed new covenant God protects people if people obey Gods laws (10 Commandments) Symbol is Ark and two tablets

The 10 Commandments 1) Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 2) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. 3) Thou shalt not take the name of the lord thy God in vain. 4) Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. 5) Honor thy father and mother 6) Thou Shalt not kill. 7) Thou shalt not commit adultery 8) Thou shalt not steal 9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor 10) Thou shalt not covet anything
