Introduction Analyzing what makes me who I am and what I have become from my life choices. I will be looking though my past courses, jobs, and community involvement to show who I am and what I stand for though common themes of my life.
Methods to themes • What I have to show for my life • Personal assessments • Life narrative • Interests, hobbies, entertainment, and involvement in the community • Goals for the future • Job history
Analyzing data • Asking myself questions from our textbook Harrington and Hall Career management and Work-Life Integration. • Reflecting on writing personal narrative seeing what common denominators come from it and compared to my other resources. • I hit a brick wall of trying to find a new lens of looking at the same information about myself so I had my mom and best friend look over the assignments and assessments. • I discovered that I am a very selfless person anything to not point the attention to me is what makes me happy.
Coding data • I love helping others and doing a job that creates a team • Being a leader is a deep desire in my heart • Doing what I can to shine Gods light in every aspect • I look for the bright side in everything I do. • Being busy is better than wasting time • Giving others the spot light while I work behind the scenes is my happiness • Being the example for others to want to follow brings joy • Encouraging others is deep rooted within me
My Data Sources To create my ten themes I have compiled sources that reflect these themes in my life. I have used several school assignments, work reflections, and other areas of my life to back these themes.
Data Sources • Life Story Personal Narrative (LSPN)-This reflective exercise required that I create a substantial narrative of my life story from birth to the present day. Additionally, throughout the retelling of my story, we were required to identify major themes which have persisted throughout our life. Sabrina Tuning Life story.docx • DISC Personality Test (DISC) - This assessment requires users to select two answers from a series of statement clusters, one which they find most accurate to their personality and one which they believe is least accurate as to their personality. Each statement has a corresponding value which generates a score for the user in four categories: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance. • Partner Development Plan (PDP)- starbucks has every employee fill out one every six months reflecting on our strengths and places to grow. Usually our store managers sit down one on one with us to reflect on our last few months. I decided to include this because it shows my themes in work detail. • Akidio way BIS 340 (AWB)- This course was based on the martial arts of centering oneself for a fight. Being grounded and centered knowing where I stand so that when people try to say I am wrong or not thinking straight I will be able to take their punches without falling over. Rather HEAR out their ideas and be able to explain mine without trying to HOOK them...\340 Akikdo Way\module 4 discussion HEAR.docx • BIS 321- This course focused on team work and getting together on one topic to help others be aware of it. This required more communication and team work over the computer. We had to be okay with expanding our own ideas and comfort zones for topics of choice. ..\BIS321\module 2 team paper.docx
My 10 Themes These are ideas, concepts, and facts that stand out in my life as values or habits of mine good or bad that make me who I am. I don’t change who I am just for the people I am around I am who I am.
Theme • The following information will be presented for each theme: • Theme Statement • Data Sources with relevant data (3 to earn excellent) • Supporting Data from the data source (6 data points for each theme to earn excellent). This will include direct quotes or a summary of your findings. • Contradictory Evidence (if there is none then a brief explanation why feel this is so) • Make sure to cite your sources using your legend • Reflection of theme including life impact.
Living my life in accordance with God’s plan • I made the choice to follow Christ all of my life August 26, 2006. I got baptized at the church of arrowhead in Peoria, Az. • The closer I am to God the better I feel and smarter choices I make with more background knowledge. (3Qs) • I have prayer journals that go back all the way to second grade. • I do devotionals, attend church weekly, and even above that talk with God like he is sitting in my head listening to everything I have to say. (LSPN) • Looking at life with a lens of beauty. Not letting little things ruin my entire day maybe five minutes of it but that’s it. • I talk about him with anyone willing to listen or who asks questions.
Family • Theme Statement: I love my family more an anything I will do anything for them, I put their needs above my own. • Supporting Data: • I live my life with a lot of joy coming from my family (3Qs) • I sometimes fight the urge to put my plans ahead of their own but usually is their way. • Treating everyone as family even those at work (PDP) • Listening to those with an opposing idea (LSPN)
Theme 1: Family con’t • Contradictory Evidence (if there is none then a brief explanation why feel this is so) • I need to listen to others before pursuing my ideas and plans. Following my siblings footprints all of my life needs stop and I can grow. (VD)
Friends/ Social life • Statement: Something I haven’t had most expierences that people my age have had. I keep busy working forty hours a week.
My Personal Vision Statement • God gave me the breath in my lungs I want everything I do to reflect him, shining his light to the shadows of earth. Reflection: • I have realized that this life I have been given is not merely and accident but because God has a purpose for my heart as long as it beats on this earth. I am to worship him and bring glory to him by leading others and setting the example for them. I have seen this time in time again in what I do I see Gods hands guiding me. I haven’t earned anything but been blessed with everything I have because of his mercy and love. I don’t want anyone to remember my name but Jesus’ name. Working hard to reach those who have the hardest time believing Jesus died for them too.
My Personal Mission Statement Present your personal mission statement-Remember Short and the T-Shirt Rule…can you remember it easily… Example I am dedicated to standing for the truth at all times with gentleness, respect, and patience, but also with firmness, resolve, and conviction, even if doing so should come to the point of personal hurt. Reflection: Here you will reflect on the process you used to develop your personal vision and mission statements. Explain what you learned from the statement development process and any approach, strategy, or tool(s) specifically, that helped you craft your statement.
Conclusion I have learned that I am one who loves to give all the glory of my work to God. The people in my life have helped shaped me, helped me to see Gods work, and learn new things. I have found a great passion for being a servant leader to others in all chances given. I want the absolute best for everyone around me and them to see Gods light shining within me. I have themes in my life that stand out probably more to others than I realized before doing this assignment. I know that I still have so many chances to grow and keep learning and seeing myself in new light. I am excited to see where I can grow and who I will become by knowing that I want to grow in Gods light.
