  2. Licence Components • CGS operates the water supply and sewage treatment infrastructure in Rankin Inlet – which are the subjects of this application

  3. Licence Duration and Details • CGS is requesting the Type ‘A’ licence be granted for 5 years recognizing improved due diligence • Requested ‘Conditions’ recognize areas of non-compliance and the commitments to achieve compliance following a realistic schedule

  4. Water Use Volume • A review of current water taking data confirms the previously identified issues with high rates of loss (leakage) • Until the engineering studies and subsequent construction activities can be completed the current water use rates will continue

  5. Water Quantity • Until the system can be made more efficient the requested water use is 2,330 cubic metres per day or 850,000 cubic metres per year

  6. NWB jurisdiction • It is the understanding of CGS that the requested conditions to the licence concerning the impacts to the marine environment of the sewage discharge may not be within the jurisdiction of the NWB • CGS will accept the licence with or without this condition • Regardless, CGS will still fulfill the commitments made to all parties in the application

  7. Summary • CGS is requesting a 5 year Type ‘A’ NWB licence for water supply and sewage treatment • Documents outline the information available and provide detailed plans to operate the facilities and address data gaps • Recommended ‘Conditions’ include a realistic schedule
