Organising and Recruitment • PE Organising Strategy • New strategy agreed August 2015 • Organising strategy is key to effective workplace organisation and representation • Consultation exercise with branches, senior field officials and field organisers • Designed to raise profile, address membership and meet legal requirements • Initial action focused on induction events, membership targets, improved reps training and better reporting systems • Strategy builds on earlier policy re: workplace committees
Organising and Recruitment • Postal Industry Conference 2013 – Motion 25 • The time is now right with the introduction of the Agenda for Growth Agreement for the CWU to reclaim the CWU structure within the workplace, to this end. Branches will establish workplace committees (WPC). • The aim of the workplace committees will be to support and assist the CWU Representatives, when setting up the committees, branches will encourage members from all minority groups to be involved.

Non Recognised Organising • Currently working on a new strategy for UK Mail • Akinika in Preston • Owner Drivers – is there scope for organising • Establish where we can be effective
The Role of the Field Organisers • An additional resource for branches • Develop training and workshops for Branches • Highly trained in how to deploy organising initiatives • Develop the CWU Strategy going forward with the Senior Organiser and the Postal Executive

That’s why the CWU will work with you to help you gain the necessary skills and confidence to enable you to gradually develop into the role. • As well as being given training to help you build up the skills you need, you’ll get the support you need from reps across the CWU, within your region and from specialist departments from within the CWU.
