This project, funded by the European Union, aims to analyze the supply and demand for regional statistics in Moldova, and improve the production and dissemination of such statistics. It focuses on enhancing the capacity of users and producers through dialogue and capacity building programs.

Updated project context • Project extension until 31st March 2017 • Statistical system: • Approval by Government of Statistical Law • Approval by Government of National Strategy for Development of Statistics 2016-2020 • Statistical production: • Population and Housing Census data already digitised and validated • Use of Statistics: • National Strategy for Regional Development approved • Regional strategies in preparation or already prepared by RDAs
Main results during reporting period (1) • Statistical processes: • IT applications for agricultural surveys installed and functioning in all Territorial Statistical Offices (TSOs) of NBS; • Detailed study of HR and workload distribution in Territorial Statistical Offices as input to re-organisation process; • Launching the Intranet as a communication tool within HQ and TSOs of NBS; • Capacity building programme for statistical producers • Statistical products: • Regional GDP and GVA by industries disseminated • Launch of WG on Geographical Information for Statistics • Pilot survey on agricultural production
