Government Communication as Service Delivery “2011/12 was a year in which GCIS pursued a fundamentally proactive communication campaign across government. “It was a year that brought government closer to the people and people closer to government.” Minister Collins Chabane

INTRODUCTION 2011/12 Annual Report of GCIS Represents a revitalised government-wide communication system that is better positioned to provide strategic leadership in addressing the citizens’ information needs • Providing information for action; to access services that will improve their lives • Central support to the visible implementation of five key national priorities • Providing strategic leadership to government communication system • Communication support to 2011 local government elections

TRANSFER TO ENTITIES • Budget of R19 115 000 to Media Development and Diversity Agency • 2 Quarterly transfer payments, totaling R77 636 000 made to the International Marketing Council (now Brand South Africa) before shifted to The Presidency • Meetings were held to discuss progress on activities and expenditure trend before funds transfer
