  2. What are the Different Techniques Used for Manufacturing Stainless Steel Tubes and Pipes? The Rolling mill technology, which used to be the only stainless pipe and tube manufacturing process for industrial use in the 19th century, was a long drawn technique. With technological evolution and the coming of new technologies, a number of different methods came to the fore for this type of manufacturing.

  3. Rolling and welding The stainless steel strips have to undergo many quality tests, and the edges are trimmed. Then, manufacturers feed these into the mill of the tubes. The strips move through many rollers as the size requires. The strips are slowly transformed into a tubular shape in the tubes-mill. Then, the fitted welding machine welds the edges of the strip trim with the technique of TIG welding. The Tibo machine immediately removes the scraps and the weld bead within. Tubes and rolled pipes are created in this way.

  4. Cleaning and Heating Rolled stainless steel pipes made in this way are cut as long as needed for industrial purposes. The pipes and tubes are then cleaned for getting dirt off them. These are also heat treated, to get rid of the stresses that can happen due to welding and formation. The hearth furnace for heat treatment purpose is fitted with controllers and recorders of temperature. Once the heat treatment process comes to an end, the pipes and SS tubes are made straight and pickled to rid the surface of scales.

  5. Cold- drawing In a few cases, the size required might not be directly got from the tubes-mill. In that case, the required size can be obtained with the process of cold operation. In the technique of cold drawing, soap solution and oxalic acid is used to coat the pipes or tubes. The solution works as a lubricant and can decrease friction during cold drawing. Die plugs are used to draw the pipe / tube over the bench in this specific type of procedure.

  6. Finishing process Then, the SS pipe or drawn-out tube is cleaned, heat-treated, pickled and straightened. The finished tubes or pipes are marked with the computerized ink jet marker equipment. The heat number, size, material grade and 3rd party inspection stamp are marked on the tube / pipe surface, before packing them off to stainless steel pipe exporters. The pipes or tubes go through some quality inspections and testing. These are then packed well and dispatched. Thereafter, these products are used for many applications and purposes in the industry.
