Notes • Nuclear power: generates electricity using heat produced when atoms are split. • In 1986, Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station exploded in Ukraine due to human error. • Ukraine was still part of the Soviet Union; therefore, safety was not stressed. • Reactors housed improperly • Reactors not always used for intended purposes (weapons)
