  2. District Changes • Necessity of changes • New software is only compatible with Windows Servers • Reduce setup time for new PCs • Centralized management of PCs • Remote support of PCs • Increased security • Simplified network printing

Changes for Kemp ISD Employees • Microsoft Active Directory accounts • New usernames: firstname.lastname • Unique passwords • Minimum number of characters • Case-sensitive • Move e-mail accounts to Microsoft Outlook • No future support for Netscape • Limitations placed on computers • Personal accounts for students

Steps for a Successful Migration • Save all important documents to a safe location (Home directory H: drive, USB flash drive, CD, DVD) • Save important E-mail messages and personal contacts • Save Internet Bookmarks/Favorites • Approach as though you will be starting off with a new computer next year

  5. Questions, Comments, etc. • You can e-mail or call the Technology Department with any questions you may have about this migration. • There will be a section on our website for any frequently asked questions. • There will also be a section for handouts that will help you with the migration.
