Upcoming Dates Accumulator Ring: • ASAC Review September 22-24 • DOE Review October 2003 • Extraction magnets being assembled • Injection DC Magnets and Kickers (Complete) in House. • HEBT and RTBT Collimators Delivered • Ring 1 and 2 Collimator Chambers Coated • Design complete July 2003 • More ½ cells delivered • First doublet cell assembled • RF Cavities delivered – scheduled for late September. • First quarter cell assembled
Hot Topics • New ½ cell Lifting fixture design sent to ORNL for review. • Magnet heat load verification/water flow verification. Hemmer/Lambiase • Lambertson coil re- design - Complete bid package • Lower pressure available. Need cable information. • List of Central Shops Work yet to • be done. • FY 2004 Budget • Commit FY 2003 Funding
Hot Topics ORNL Wednesday Morning Phone Conference • Magnet water flow and resistance measurements. • Water system pressure lowered to 100 psi or less delta P. • 36Q85 must define installation configuration (they are doing drawings). New engineer at ORNL for this area – visit in three/four weeks. • Here is the estimate for pressure drop to the Ext. Septum and Collimator Doublet: • Ext. Septum Magnet 6.3 psid assume 10 psid • Collimator Doublet Magnet 9.2psid assume 14 psid • We would like to run at 120 psig therefore 110 psid at the inlet of the Lambertson. The ideal return pressure would be 30 psig therefore the return pressure at the magnet would be 40 psig. Therefore, the available delta-P would be 70 psid. We could go as high as 150 psig supply yielding 100 psid. Likewise with the Doublet 105 psig inlet, 45 psig return and 60 psid. OR 135 psig inlet, 45 psig outlet and 90 psid. • If so, what is the highest temperature the doublets can run at? • Let me know, Jim
