Context and premise • Lack of understanding of how the brain works - impact on teacher CPD • Underpinning knowledge of learning to manage pupil performance • Identification of SpLD - 10% in the classroom • Underlying premise is that teaching and learning for SpLD benefits all learners • Change of direction in the classroom- accessibility for all learners

Background to the research The background - East of England training • Engaged an active learning approach to teaching • Responded to Govt targets-greater participation in HE • Since 2006- 91 institutions- 145 staff. Including 3 Review sessions- enabled staff to exchange ideas- report on progress made. Research Methodology • Mailed out questionnaires to participants • Face to face and telephone interviews Roles- Resources- perceptions-ideas about learning General-opportunities-knowledge-pupil performance
