DPSIR framework to link processes in terms of human behavior to their consequences for the environment (outcomes/impacts). Describing elements of the chain that links human activities to their impacts on the environment and the effectiveness of responses.
DPSIR explained – Drivers Population (number, age structure, education levels, political stability) Transport (persons, goods; road, rail, air, off-road) Energy use (energy factors per type of activity, fuel types, technology) Industry (types of plants, age structure, resource types) Agriculture etc
DPSIR Explained-Pressures Use of resources Emissions (per driving force for numerous compounds) - direct emissions to air, water and soil - indirect emissions to air, water and soil Production of waste Production of noise Radiation Vibration Hazards (risks)
DPSIR Explained-State Air quality (national, regional, local, etc.) Water quality (rivers, lakes, seas, coastal zones, groundwater) Soil use and quality (national, local, natural areas, agricultural areas)
