Huddersfield International Institute for Accelerator Applications • Less than 1 year old • Staff: 4 FTE professors • PhD Students: currently 4, CDT will provide 2/year • MSc students: cohort of 12/year • Projects: LHC, ESS, ADSR, DAEdALUS, nsFFAG… • Equipment: 20 kV Ion source, SRS Booster magnets, ….. And now MEIS

Huddersfield / Daresbury More adaptable Not so constrained financially Will not set out to offer same standard of service Our goal: establish Huddersfield as major player in accelerator and accelerator-related research. REF criteria (papers, impact) an important metric, though not the only one.

  7. Questions How do we run the system to encourage users? • Length of bookings? • Time slots? • How far ahead? • How to run fair allocation system with minimal bureaucracy? • Facilities? Answers from this meeting.
