  2. What is a “citizen?” • Citizen: • A member of a nation • Loyal to their nation • Rights are protected by the nation’s government

  5. Who are citizens? • The Law of Blood: • If you are born outside the U.S. to parents who are citizens, then you are a citizen! The Law of the Soil: Automatically a citizen, if born on the U.S. land!

  6. Citizens continued… Citizens by Naturalization Immigrants can become U.S. citizens through a process Can apply for citizenship

  7. Rights of Citizens: Security – Protection of your rights Equality – We are all treated the same regardless of race, religion, etc Liberty – freedoms of citizens

  8. Did you know… Attending School! That you are fulfilling one of the responsibilities of citizens right now? Which responsibility??
