Panda Facts -Pandas weigh about 220-330 pounds -Pandas usually live 14-20 years old in the wild; but in managed care they live up to 30 years old -The average panda is 3 feet tall -They live in temperate forests. -It is the rarest animal in the world. -Pandas have been in China for about 2 to 3 million years and are protected by the law in China.
Habitats -Pandas live in mountain ranges in China. -Pandas once live in low lands. -Pandas also live in bamboo, deciduous, and evergreen mountain forests. -Sometimes they live in broad leaf forest with bamboo all around it. -There are only about 700-1000 pandas living in the world now.
Why are they endangered and who is doing it ??????? -Pandas are endangered because their habitats are getting cut down and destroyed and that is causing them to slowly perish. -Tree cutters are the most responsible for their endangerment because they are cutting down the bamboo forests. -Farmers are cutting down pandas bamboo so they can have more farming land. -Pandas share habitats with millions of people, and those people are cutting down the environment to build new houses.
What is being done to save them and who is helping????? -The World Wide Fund For Nature is helping to save animals all over the world. -Conversation groups all over the world are helping endangered species by trying to make a law that people need to stop cutting down their habitats. -
What are the chances the panda will survive???? -In China it is a law that you can not kill pandas, and since there is a lot of people in china, we say that it is a pretty good chance that pandas will live for a couple more years. -If we all help, they won’t be extinct.
What is the cost of the preservation efforts -There is no cost but you have to be interested. -You have to ask and convince the government to make the law. -In china it is already a law so we only need to help in certain places.
