Sophie ne regarde pas de programme. (Paul is watching a program.)(Sophie isn’t watching a program.) Paul écoute une chanson. Sophie n’écoute pas de chanson. (Paul is listening to a song.)(Sophie isn’t listening to a song.) Paul achètedes crayons. Sophie n’achète pas de crayons. (Paul is buying some pencils.) (Sophie isn’t buying any pencils.)

  3. Using nouns and infinitives with the verbs adorer, aimer and détester When using nouns with adorer, aimer and détester, you need to include the definite article le, la, l’ or les. Je déteste la géometrie. (I hate geometry.) J’adore les sciences sociales. ( I love social studies.) Je n’aime pas l’école. (I don’t like school.)

  4. In French when the verbs adorer, aimer and détester are followed by another verb, the verb is in the infinitive form. Elle aime travailler. (She likes to work.) On adore parler français. (We love to speak French.) Tu détestes étudier. (You hate to study.) If a sentence is negative, you place ne…pas around the first verb only. Vous n’aimez pas écouter les profs. (You guys don’t like to listen to the teachers.)
