  2. Year 10 GCSE Science Taught by 3 specialist teachers on a termly rota GCSE Science 6 periods per week August of year 10: GCSE Science Awarded

Year 10 GCSE Individual Sciences Taught by 3 specialist teachers on a termly rota GCSE Science 6 periods per week GCSE Individual Science pupils ‘bank’ marks until certification in year 11 GCSE Individual science pupils will also spend 3 periods per week studying modules B3, C3, P3 taught by Mr Lockyer or Mr Cox

Year 11 GCSE Individual Sciences Taught by 3 specialist teachers on a termly rota GCSE Science 6 periods per week GCSE Individual science pupils will also spend 3 periods per week studying modules B3, C3, P3 taught by Mr Lockyer or Mr Cox to be examined June of year 11 August of Year 11 separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics awarded

Modular external assessment is replaced by linear assessment from June 2014. Any modular result not cashed in by June 2013 will be lost.’ EDEXCEL

Current Year 10 GCSE Additional Science (starting Sep ’13) Taught by 3 specialist teachers on a termly rota GCSE Science 6 periods per week August of year 11: GCSE Additional Science Awarded in Year 11 Certification window ‘There will be no opportunity to sit individual unit examinations after June 2013. Modular external assessment is replaced by linear assessment from June 2014. Any modular result not cashed in by June 2013 will be lost.’ EDEXCEL

  11. Current year 10 GCSE Individual Sciences - Option 1 Year 10 Compulsory science lessons During year 10 Individual science lessons – study B3,C3 and P3 NO EXAMS IN YEAR 10 Year 11 Compulsory science lessons Year 11 Individual science lessons – study B3,C3 and P3

Current Year 10 GCSE Individual Sciences – Option 2 GCSE Science 6 periods per week Taught by 3 specialist teachers on a termly rota Some individual GCSE Science pupils will do B1 or P1 as a practice exam Taught by Mr Lockyer or Mr Cox GCSE Individual Sciences 3 periods per week Individual science pupils will sit 4 exams in year 10. This will allow GCSE Chemistry to be awarded in Year 10 leaving 6 exams (B1,B2,B3 and P1,P2 and P3 and Biology and Physics exams being completed in Year 11)

The flexibility to follow any of the four pathways exists: • Option 1 – Treat first module in P1 or B1 as a practice exam and sit 9 exams in Year 11 to certificate in GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics • Option 2 - Treat first module in P1 or B1 as a practice exam and sit 3 more exams to complete GCSE Chemistry in year 10. Sit 6 exams in year 11 to complete GCSE Biology and Physics. • Option 3 – Combine first module with 2 more exams to complete GCSE Science in Year 10. Sit 6 exams in Year 11 to complete GCSE Additional Science and GCSE Further additional Science. • Option 4 – Combine first module with 2 more exams to complete GCSE Science in year 10. Sit 9 exams in year 11 to complete separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
