  1. War in Iraq&no end in sight Iraq is entering a murky interregnum period.

  2. In 1995 the CIA funded an effort by the Iraqi National Congress (INC). This is an Iraqi opposition group operating in exile to lead a resistance movement against Saddam Hussein. The INC set up a base of operations in the northern Kurdish region of Iraq, which enjoyed a degree of autonomy from the Iraqi government and was a UN-protected no-fly zone for the Iraqi air force. This had caused political infighting which led to rival factions to tip off Saddam’s government to the group’s presence. The INC was very outmatched, and hundreds were captured and executed. Those who escaped, including the INC’s leader Ahmed Chalabi, returned to the U.S. and continued to lobby for action against Saddam. What surprised me the most when I viewed No End in Site was a little bit of shock. I didn’t realize all that was really happening out in Iraq and how unorganized our system is. But now that I know everything that was shown in the video it helps me understand everything a little bit better. What angered me was how the movie showed that our president didn’t really care about the children or where they needed the most protection.

  3. The Project for the New American Century, a think tank of prominent conservatives in the United States, wrote an open letter to President Clinton in 1998 urging him to make the removal of Saddam Hussein from power one of the his top priorities. The writers of the letter argued that with his potential for developing weapons of mass destruction, Saddam could not be allowed to remain in power and the full diplomatic, political and military powers of the United States should be used to remove him. This letter holding signatures for future [now present] people who would hold positions in the administration President George W. Bush, including Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Armitage, John Bolton and Zalmay Khalilzad. 3.) What every American should know about Iraq is that thee was not only George W. Bush making the decisions it was a group of people who were coming together and going against ones wishes. I feel like they should stop showing what we want to hear and really including the people about what’s really going on in Iraq.

  4. Meanwhile in 2003, intelligence provided by sources in the Iraqi National Congress on Iraq’s weapons programs seemed to support the Bush administration’s worst fears about Saddam Hussein, although some in the intelligence community and the State Department suspected the information might not be accurate. This time without the support of the United Nations, the United States, supported by the United Kingdom and a coalition of allied countries, invaded Iraq in March of 2003. 4.) Some questions I still have is why did they (The Head Departments) allow Bush and his people, and groups- different departments, go against what was really supposed to be going on, like there set decisions were only set to change them throughout the process?

  5. After Bush’s election in 2000, Iraq had become a more pressing issue in the eyes of those making U.S. foreign policy. Also the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001 and the possibility that Iraq could act as of source of weapons of mass destruction for terrorist groups . Who were seeking to use them against the United States created further cause for alarm. . The success of the war in Afghanistan gave the U.S. government reason to believe it could topple a hostile government and replace it with one that was more democratic and friendlier to the United States Already, according to the eyewitnesses interviewed in “No End in Sight,” terrible mistakes had been made. Looting and other early manifestations of disorder were more likely to be met with Rumsfeldian aphorisms — “Stuff happens”; freedom is “untidy” — than with appropriate tactical responses.

  6. …questions continued… 5.) I think that only some of the people and groups have learned what to do and how to do it correctly in a different situation. But you still have those people who think something is a good way, but turns out to be something that should never have been done to begin with. • 6.) The precautions we should take when planning interventions in places such as Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan North Korea are: • Having a better ideal plan • Organization
