Changes to the NSW child protection legislation now places the responsibility with the Cycling Club to ensure that all Coaches, Commissaires and Club Members working with children sign a “Volunteer/Student Worker” declaration. At present NSW volunteers are not required to undergo a Working with Children check or a Police check, this may change sometime in the next 18 months. Volunteer/student worker – declaration. The form can either be completed on line, printed and signed or printed and completed off line. The form is not valid until signed by the applicant. The completed and signed form is to be lodged with the Cycle Club to be kept on file for 2 years after the applicant has left the club or ceased working with children and a copy sent to Cycling NSW – Attention James Nguyen. When completed on line the form is not kept on file by the department it must be lodged with the Cycling Club and CNSW. The ability to complete the form on line is only to make it more legible.
CNSW Board Meeting: • This matter was recently discussed by the CNSW Board and they ask that all NSW Coaches, Commissaires and Volunteers complete the “Volunteer/Student worker – declaration”. • Clubs are requested to ensure that this happens. CNSW will publish this information on our web site and in the Newsletter – see “Clubs – BUGS”.
