New Interventions – From Flexi Fund • Additional food Item to children • State is already providing seasonal fruit to children once in a week @ Rs. 4.00/- per child. • To further improve nutrition of children, State proposes additional seasonal fruit once in a month (Last Friday). • Total Fund Required Rs. 4375.29 Lac @ Rs. 4.00 Per Child per month

New Interventions – From MME Fund • Training of Cook-cum-helpers (CCH) • State has already trained all CCH with the help of a short film “POSHANA” • To further train the CCH, State proposes 1 day training program of CCH at block level, in a phased manner. • Around 1 lakh CCH are proposed to be trained in 2019-20. • Total Fund Required Rs. 250.00 Lac

New Interventions – From MME Fund • Cooking Competition • The State proposes cooking competition of CCH to be organized at block level. • Competition shall be based on taste & appearance of food, cooking skills, safety measures, hygiene & behavioral aspects. • A winning prize of Rs. 2000/-, 1000/- & 500/- shall be given to 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holders respectively. • Total Fund Required Rs. 40.00 lac.
New Interventions – From MME Fund • Testing of food samples in laboratories • At present, FSDA department is responsible for food sampling & testing, but outcomes are not appreciable. • The State proposes sampling & testing of food samples in NABL Laboratories at District level. • At least 4 samples per district shall be collected & tested in a month. • Total Fund Required Rs. 25.00 Lac.
New Interventions – From MME Fund • IEC Activities • The State proposes awareness activities amongst community such as – NukkadNatak, Puppet Show etc. • Preparation of Audio-Video Jingles. • Total Fund Required Rs. 20.00 Lac
New Interventions • IDEAL KITCHEN • Mid-day Meal Authority is under the process of conceptualisation of an ideal kitchen since GoI has raised the funds under the kitchen devices head according to the number of children in schools. • The standardisation of kitchen equipments shall be based on cooking devices, storage containers and utensils for serving of food. • The ideal kitchen shall comprise the following equipments:- • Detail shall be circulated to all schools so that they can upgrade their kitchen as per requirement.
New Interventions • DINNING SHED IN SCHOOLS • State Government has constructed dinning sheds in almost all schools (981) of district Kaushambi and in some schools of districts like Jaunpur, Lalitpur, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Varanasi etc. from 12th & 14th Finance Commission. • Executive Committee of Mid-day Meal Authority has decided to provide Dinning Sheds to schools covered under mid-day meal scheme with the help of “OPERATION KAYAKALP” of Panchayati Raj Department.
Best Practices • Govt. of U.P. has decided to enhance honorarium of Cooks by Rs. 500/-. • Govt. of U.P. has declared to provide APRON, GLOVES & HEAD COVER to all Cooks working in the State. • To provide the additional nutrition by providing fresh and seasonal fruits among students weekly. • To take the meal with dignity the government has distributed THALI & GLASS in all schools covered under MDMS. • With the help of UNICEF for the training of Cook-cum-helpers regarding Hygiene, Safety and Nutrition a short film ‘POSHANA’ has been developed. • “MAA Samuh” have also been created in all schools, under which a group of 6 mothers is formed and they regularly visit the schools according to their roaster and super wise the food being cooked and served to the students. • 1,60,776 Schools are Provided LPG Connections.

Requests to GoI • Honorarium for Cook-cum helper is Rs. 1000/- per month since 2010. After 09 years, it is still Rs. 1000/- per month. It is difficult to arrange CCH for the schools at this rate. • “It is requested to increase the honorarium of CCH Rs. 3000/- per month for 12 months.” • Sometimes mis-happening occurs during the preparation of meals in the school. In such accidental case, there is no provision of life cover for CCH. • “It is requested to provide adequate insurance facility for CCH.”
