Name: __________________________ World ReligionsFinal Essay Outline Religious Service You Observed: _________________________________________________ Introduction Your introduction needs to include background information about the religion and religious ceremony you observed and it needs to include a thesis statement. The background information needs to explain the significance of the ceremony you are writing about. Your thesis should compare your observation to what you have learned in class.

  4. Description of the Ceremony You should have 1-3 paragraphs describing the ceremony. Give sensory details whenever possible—make your reader feel like she is experiencing the ceremony with you.

Analysis of the Ceremony • You should have 3-4 paragraphs analyzing the ceremony. • You MUST discuss the following: • What was similar to what you learned in class • What was different to what you learned in class • Evidence of the 4 functions of religion—did you see anything that provided stability, ethical guidance, a sense of community, or meaning and purpose?
