My Great Uncle Bill
Who is My Great Uncle Bill? • My Great Uncle Bill was a strong, friendly person, but he was one of those people that you would not like to mess with he had a job as a policeman and he was a spy in world war two. He did a lot of amazing things that I am going to tell you soon. The reason why he is my great uncle is because he married my great auntie Joan unfortunately my auntie Joan died 6 days before my and Jessie's birthday because we share a birthday but that's not about this power-point this power-point is about my great uncle bill
ARMY FACTS • My Great Uncle Bill ran away from home and joined the army before the Second World War. Since he was too young he got hold of his birth certificate and changed his date of birth so he could join the army. • When the war started he got a job working with a group of spies. They all lived in a big old house out in the countryside in Scotland. The lady who did the typing was called Joan. An American soldier came to the house and said something rude about Joan. Uncle Bill didn’t like it and hurt him really badly. He got in lots of trouble but they didn’t kick him out. Joan was my Grandma’s big sister and she married Bill so that’s why he’s my Uncle.
More ARMY Facts • Mt great Uncle Bill had to go into where the Germans and Japanese were, find out stuff about them and also help train people who were trying to attack the enemy. Sometimes he had to parachute out of a plane to get there. When he was in Burma he got caught by the Japanese and was put on a train. He had to escape because they would torture and kill him. Uncle Bill and his friend attacked the guards and jumped off the train. His friend broke his neck and was killed jumping off the train but Uncle Bill escaped and walked all the way through the jungle back to the where it was safe. He caught a disease called malaria which he had for the rest of his life. • He also went to Greece and pretended to be a barber while helping some people there learn about things like how to use radios and make bombs.
POLICE Facts • After the war he became a police officer in London. One night he was riding his bike around London and saw four men hurting another man and he went help. Three of the men had to go to hospital and Uncle Bill caught the other one. He got a medal for being brave but he didn’t get any medals from the war because what he did was secret
More Facts • My great Uncle Bill was very, very big and strong. When my dad and his brother stayed with him in London he would pick them both up and hold them against the ceiling. My dad thought he was very funny and kind. • When he was really old he got cancer and had to have an operation. Because Uncle Bill had malaria the hospital needed special blood but they didn’t have any so he got really sick. My dad went to see him and he Uncle Bill gave him a big hug. That night he woke up and pulled all the stuff out of his arm and died because when the nurse came out he was dead with all them medication off in the bed.
