Partners in the Parks Partners in the Parks is an academic adventure program sponsored NCHC and the National Park Service. Honors students and faculty visit areas of the American landscape noted for their beauty, significance and lasting value. Seminars led by university faculty and park personnel will include historical, scientific, cultural, and other important areas unique to a given park. Projects will also take advantage of exciting recreational opportunities in the parks to broaden participant's understanding of the overall value of national parks to our country and its citizens. ACADIA NATIONAL PARK Acadia National Park is located on Mount Desert Island along the beautiful coast of Maine. Rocky shores, breathtaking vistas and numerous natural wonders greet the visitor. The natural environment just begs to be explored – rocky beaches teeming with marine life, hikes that lead to spectacular views, and always the ocean as stunning backdrop. Acadia National Park neighbors Bar Harbor, a coastal town with a fascinating seafaring history. Participants must find transportation to Portland, Maine. The group will depart Portland on Saturday morning, August 4. The return to Portland will be mid-afternoon Friday, August 10.
