Screencasting • Allows you to show what is happening on your computer screen with audio. • Screencasts provide students with lessons they can watch at their convenience, as often as they choose, to review class material or to help understand concepts they find difficult. • Requires a screen capture software. • SmartBoard Notebook • Promethean ActivInspire • Camtasia (CRS & LMS) • Freeware (Cam Studio, Jing)

Podcasting • A podcast is a digital media file, usually audio or video. • The mode of delivery is what differentiates podcasts from other ways of accessing media files over the internet. • Special software applications known as podcatchers (iTunes, Zune, Juice, and Winamp) allow users to know when a podcast is available. • RSS – Really Simple Syndication – is another way for content publishers to make podcasts and other content available to subscribers.

Audacity • Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. • Allows you to mix audio clips for a professional sounding podcast. • To add music to your podcast use Soundzabound.   7. Blogs • A blog (web + log) is a type of website that provides commentary or news on a particular subject or may function as a more personal online diary. A typical blog combines text, images, audio, video and links to other blogs. • As a blogger, you can offer subscriptions to your blog through a RSS feed which allows users to know new content has been posted. • VBPCS offers a free Campus Edition Edublog. • Microblogging – Features very short posts (Twitter).
