  5. Delaware County VITA/EITC Since 2003, the consortium has grown and extended its FREE TAX PREPARATION services to over 5,500 residents of Delaware County, and has enabled over $6.9 Million to be brought back in to the local economy.

  6. 2009 Results – Delaware County, PA • 60 Volunteers trained • 5 Sites plus PathWays PA Mobiles • 1275 Tax returns filed • 33% Claimed Earned Income Tax Credit • Average Refund Amount: $1446 (Federal + State)

  9. Taxpayers using paid preparers: For a tax refund of $2000, you might pay: • Refund Anticipation Loan Fee: $ 90 • Bank Charge for RAL Loan: $ 30 • E-File fee for Federal: $ 100 • E-file fee for State return: $ 30 • Check Cashing fee (1% - 4%) $ 20

What to bring to a VITA Appointment (page 1 of 3) • W-2s and other wage statements received from all employers for Tax Year 2009. • Social Security cards for taxpayer(s)and everyone in the household that you support • The dates of birth for all dependents. • Driver's license or other state issued photo ID card • Last year's tax return, if you have one, as well as any additional items (such as mortgage statements) that you think may impact your tax return, even if you are not sure.

  13. What to bring to a VITA Appointment (page 2 of 3) • Any 1099 forms for 2009. You may have 1099 forms if you received income from Social Security, Railroad Retirement, Unemployment, Interest, or Dividend Income. • If you paid for day care in the past year, bring your year-end statement for Day Care for the year 2009, including the social security number or EIN of your day care provider, the Provider’s name, and the day care address.

What to bring to a VITA Appointment (page 3 of 3) • If you received any advance child tax credit payment in 2009, bring in Notice 1319, showing proof of the amount received. • If you paid for higher education, such as college or a trade school, bring form 1098-T showing evidence of payment. • If you would like to get your refund by direct deposit, bring a blank check from your bank account. • If filing jointly, both filer and spouse must be present to sign.
