C-MORE Education Goals • Increase scientific literacy in microbial oceanography • Produce leaders in the next generation of microbial oceanographers by providing state-of-the-art training • Increase the number of underrepresented minorities pursuing careers in the ocean and earth sciences, and related disciplines

  4. What is EDventures? • Support towards Educational Goals • Faculty: educational and outreach projects Started late 2012, used in California, Oregon, SACNAS, Science Days, etc… 500+ students!

EDventures for grad students/postdocs • Training • Experience writing and reviewing grant proposals • Modeled after current NSF guidelines, panel review • Travel for courses, visit specialized facilities/labs • Professional development • Research • Novel, “higher risk” and collaborative ideas • Outreach/Knowledge Transfer • Networking and communication • Website/course development, educational tools
