  1. TRAINING REPORT Metro Project ) www.camlexicon.com

  2. Site - Flyover at Subhash Chowk on Sohna Road • Local residents had hailed the decision when the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) had finally awarded the contract to build the flyover at Subhash Chowk on Sohna Road • The flyover will cost Rs 30 croreand will take at least two years to complete. • After MG Road, it is Sohna Road which witnesses the movement of the highest number of vehicles. www.camlexicon.com

  4. HUDA has recommended that the tender for this Project be given to Atlas Construction Companyfor the 600-metre flyover. www.camlexicon.com

  5. The Project involves strengthening of the existing carriage way, construction of a central verge, footpaths and service lanes on both sides, and fixing of a kerb and drain channel on the 60 meter wide Master Road. It will also involve improvement of related civil works on the Road, and the contractor shall be liable for a 3-year mix defect liability free of cost. www.camlexicon.com

  6. The inner and main roads will also have proper demarcation, as the contractor will have to lay thermoplastic paint width-marking on the central line of the roads. • Good quality manholes, and signboards of various sizes, will also be installed, to ensure that driving is a pleasant experience for both the residents as well as those passing through this Road. www.camlexicon.com

  7. Proper levelling, and provision of ducts and RCC pipes, will also ensure that waterlogging during the monsoons does not take place. In addition to civil works, this Road is also likely to get smart street-lights, and underground cabling will be done for this purpose www.camlexicon.com

  8. Presently the traffic situation is very bad, and accidents happen every day,” says Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Badshahpur. www.camlexicon.com

  9. The topic of construction broadly encompasses the issues relevant to process of road construction and maintenance: • design, • contracting, • implementation, • Supervision; • maintenance of roads and related structures, such as bridges and interchanges www.camlexicon.com

  10. A construction project requires four kinds of surveys for its completion: • (1) A property or boundary survey by a registered land surveyor to establish the location and dimensions of the property. • (2) A survey to determine the existing conditions such as contours, man-made and natural features, streams, sewers, power lines, roads, nearby structures, and so on. This work may also be done by the land surveyor along with the boundary survey. • (3) The construction surveys which determine the position and elevation of the features of the construction work. These surveys include the placing of grade stakes, alignment stakes and other layout control points. • (4) Finally there are the surveys which determine the positions of the finished structuresThese are the ―as-built‖ surveys and they are used to check thecontractor’s work and show locations of structures and their components (water lines, sewers, etc.) which will be needed for future maintenance, changes, and new construction www.camlexicon.com

  11. Important definitions in Surveying:- Horizontal Angle:- An angle measured between two intersecting lines in a horizontal plane, is defined as a horizontal angle. Control Points:- Stations having known position. Plan:- Orthographic representation of features on or near the surface of the earth in Large Scale on a horizontal plane. Map:- Graphical representation of features on or near the surface of the earth in small scale on a horizontal plane and is constructed using a projection system other than orthographic. www.camlexicon.com

  12. Oblate (spheroid):- • An oblate (spheroid) is a surface of revolution obtained by rotating an ellipse about its minor axis i.e., having equatorial radius greater than the polar radius. • Ovaloid:- • A pear shaped figure having dimension of one hemisphere larger than the other for earth, southern hemisphere is larger than the northern. • Plumb line:- • The direction of the lines of force of earth's gravity field. In field surveying, it is defined by the direction of a freely suspended plumb-bob. • Elevation:- • The vertical distance of a point from a datum. • Datum:- • A levelled surface taken as reference for the determination of elevations of points. www.camlexicon.com

  13. Longitude:- • The angular distance measured in the plane of the equator east or west of theGreenwich Meridian • Latitude:- • The angular distance measured along a meridian above or below the plane of the equator www.camlexicon.com
