Quick Guide to FRP Square Cooling Tower and Its Parts Submitted By : Tower Tech Cooling Systems Pvt. Ltd
One of the most significant components of any industrial process is cooling towers. These open-topped, cylindrical, square, and tall structures bring down the water temperature used for industries or residential process. SOURCE
How Cooling Tower Works? • At the inlet of the FRP square cooling tower, hot water enters and pump up to the header. This header has sprinklers and nozzles, which spray water and increase the surface area of water. Next, water enters PVC filling to reduce its speed. Simultaneously, at the top of the cooling tower, fans are used, which lift air from bottom to top. • Now, due to this slow speed and more water contact area, a good connection is formed between hot water and air. As a result, the water temperature is reduced through evaporation and cooled water is accumulated at the bottom of the tower, which is again used in the boiler. • For better comprehension, let’s explore different types of cooling towers available today:
Mechanical draft cooling towers • Mechanical draft cooling towers are equipped with fans or other similar mechanics that circulate air throughout the tower. Some of the usual fans used in these towers are centrifugal fans and propeller fans. Moreover, as these towers are more effective than natural draft towers, they can be used even inside the building. Unfortunately, they consume and cost more power compared with natural draft cooling towers. • The mechanical draft-cooling tower is categorized in further two types:
Counter Flow Towers • These towers let the water flows downward with air moving upward to cool the air. Additionally, they are often more compact in footprint than their counterpart towers and are capable of saving energy in the end. Cross Flow Towers • In the cross-flow tower, the hot water flows downward from distribution basins while the airflows horizontally through the cooling tower’s structure. Also referred to as tall towers, they’re less efficient and more prone to freezing.
Natural draft cooling towers • The name itself explains that the FRP cooling tower depends on natural convection. Responsible for circulating air throughout the tower, the air movement inside the system occurs due to different density of internal air and the air entering the system.
Different Parts of Cooling Tower • Eliminator:It does not allow the water to pass, as it’s located at top of the tower, from which only hot air can cross. • Float Valve: It is used to maintain a level of water. • Spray Nozzles and Header: Responsible for increasing the rate of evaporation, the component increases water surface area. • Body: made up of fiber reinforced plastic, its outer surface often protects the internal parts of the cooling tower.
PVC Falling: Similar to a beehive, it reduces the falling speed of hot water. • Mesh: It uses atmospheric air containing dust particles when a fan is switched on. Stopping the particles from entering the cooling tower, the mesh makes the functioning smooth. • Bleed Valve: It is used to control the concentration of minerals and salt.
Experts Advice • To wrap up, if you are aiming for a long time investment in cooling towers with reasonable rates, consult great cooling tower suppliers and get the service worldwide. SOURCE
