1: Add a Slide • To add a new slide click the New Slide drop down arrow and select slide type you desire. • Student – Practice inserting a new slide after this slide, use title slide layout. Title it your first and last name.
2: To Duplicate a Slide • Click the New Slide drop down arrow and select “Duplicate Selected Slides” • If you just click the “New Slide” button it will insert a blank slide • Student – duplicate this slide
3: To Hide/Unhide a Slide • Right click on the slide you want to hide and select “Hide Slide” • The hidden slide will still appear in the navigation pane with it’s slide number crossed out. The slide will not appear in the slide show if it is hidden. • To Unhide a slide, select the hidden slide and right click – Hide and it will reappear into your slide show. • Hide slide #5 (this is the duplicate slide you just made) prior to this slide
4: Adding / Deleting Slides Deleting a Slide Adding a new slide between existing slides Right click in the grey area between existing slides in the navigation pane, select new slide • Right click on the slide you want to delete and select delete Student – add a new slide after this slide by right clicking between #7 and #8. It will remain blank on the preview.
5: To Change the Layout of an Existing Slide • If you want to change the layout of a slide for instance you have a “Blank slide” and want to change it to a “Two Content Slide” • Click the Layout command in the Slides section, then choose the desired layout. Practice – change the layout of the previous slide #8 to content with caption. Search “Twin” in the online picture search and insert a picture of twins into slide #8.
6: To Rearrange Slides • If you want to change order of the slides in your presentation you need to change them in the navigation pane (the left side of the screen) • Left click on a slide in the navigation pane, while holding the mouse button down you can drag the slide to a new location. You will notice the slides move out of the way to accept the change. Drop it in the desired location. • You can also use copy/paste or cut/paste in a similar manner Practice – Grab slide #8 (Twins) and move it between #9 and #10. When you let go it will become slide #9.
7: Placeholders • Placeholders contain different content, including text, images and videos. The placeholders are the dotted lines around the content, when you click on them they become a solid line. • To move a placeholder, select the place holder, then click and drag it to the desired location. • To resize the place holder you can grab the circles around the place holder with your mouse and adjust them. • To delete a placeholder, select it then hit the delete button • To insert a text box to type into, select insert tab – text box – and left click inside your slide while dragging it – release the mouse when done Student– click in the middle of this slide, notice the placeholder lines. Resize it while noticing the words move around. Make the placeholder skinny and let go, you will notice the font is now much smaller.
Student Lesson - Complete the following tasks • Add a blank slide after these instructions (slide 13) • Duplicate this slide and move it after the blank slide you created (slide 14) • Hide the duplicate slide (#14) of the instructions (not this one) • Add a new slide to the end – Type your full name into a text box, insert an online picture of a lion (slide 15) • Select the placeholder of this slide and change the shape outline to Red and the shape fill to Yellow. (Drawing Tools – Format – Shape Styles) • Move Slide 15 (Name & Lion) to the top of the slideshow #1. • Save as LastnameSlides in your M: drive (Raise hand for credit)
