What is brain injury? An injury to the brain that is caused by a blow or jolt to the head or body, or a penetrating injury, that disrupts how the brain functions. It can also be caused by a medical incident that causes injury to the brain – such as a stroke, loss of oxygen to the brain, tumor, etc.
