How to Search Library Holdings Go to the UACCM website at www.uaccm.edu Go to the Library homepage by clicking on the word Library at the top of the UACCM homepage.
Searching library catalog At the library homepage point out the two methods of searching the library catalog: Classic Search & LS2 Pac (formerly Aquabrowser) Use Classic Search when you are searching for a specific title or author For example, in the Classic Search box you may type in Catcher in the Rye & press ENTER
Search Results Point out the following: Number of copies owned Author Call Number Whether available or checked out How to place a hold On the left side of screen click Hold Request
How to place a hold How to Place a Hold (continued) o On the new dialog box Select either I want first available copy or I want specific copy o Enter Patron Number & PIN. The patron number is the student’s ID number & the Pin is the last four digits of the student’s Social Security number. o Click Submit Request o Students will be reminded that a hold has arrived by e-mail o Received holds are held for three weeks, if they are not picked up, they will be returned to the shelf Click Home at the top of the page to return to the Library homepage
When to use LS2 Pac Use LS2 Pac when you are looking for all the information the library has dealing with a subject or individual For example, in the LS2 Pac box you may type Gun Control & press ENTER Note: You must have Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher, Firefox 2.0 or higher, Safari 3.0 or higher, or Opera 9.0 or higher for LS2 Pac to work.
LS2 pac In LS2 Pac, you get the same information as in Classic Search, but all items in the collection deal with the subject. You also get a picture of the book cover & the different formats that are available, such as books, DVD, & video. At the top you can click on EBSCO & you will get additional items in the EBSCO database. Eventually all our databases will be listed here. At the bottom of the screen students may set up personal lists & searches using student ID & PIN.
How to use library databases Go to the Library homepage & click on Databases (one of the pink boxes across the middle of the page)
Databases Continued When you select Databases, a list of the databases appears. A database is simply a collection of electronic data on particular subjects. The library subscribes to 29 different databases covering a wide range of subjects. All our databases can be accessed either on or off campus. If you are off campus you will need to use a username & password that can be obtained from the library staff. Click on EBSCO in the list of databases

Searching in Databases This screen allows you to limit your result by such criteria as full-text & date In the search box type Swine Flu & click on Search
Search Results You will next receive a screen that gives you 10 citations of more than 13,000 articles on your subject. You could reenter your subject & use the delimiters mentioned above to narrow the results of your search. Each citation will include: title; author; source of the article; number of pages, & date.
Article Information If you click on a citation the article or an abstract will come up. An easy way to get a list of your articles is to create a folder & then add your articles to your folder. When you are finished searching, you have a list of the articles you would like to print for further consideration.
Article Citation This database offers assistance in how to cite an article for any paper you might be writing. To get this help do the following; select the article; then at the top of the page choose the Icon that says cite this article; you then will receive information on how to cite by standards set by APA, American Psychological Association & others.
