  2. Enumservice „foaf“ in a nutshell E.164 FOAF file URL Enumservice Type: "foaf" URI Schemes: "http", "https" Enumservice “foaf” indicates that the resource identified by the associated URI is a source of FOAF data. If the URI scheme "https" is used, the resource can be fetched by using TLS or the Secure Socket Layer protocol.

  3. What is FOAF ? • FOAF means Friend-Of-A-Friend • FOAF is an open community-led Semantic Web Project • FOAF defines an RDF vocabulary for expressing metadata about people, their interests, relationships and activities • FOAF allows easy harvesting and aggregating of data as well as combining it with other vocabularies

  4. FOAF Termsgrouped in broad categories

  5. Publishing FOAF Data • Create an RDF document containing FOAF terms and copy it to the Web  FOAF file URL • Link the new information into the existing web of FOAF data: • through foaf:knows: linking to other people‘s FOAF data via rdfs:seeAlso tag • through the FOAF Bulletin Board (i.e. a FOAF directory) • through auto-discovery linking to a FOAF document from an HTML page using the link element •  highly decentralised FOAF data neither with full linkage nor defined location on the Web

  6. FOAF Applications • FOAF Explorer • FOAFnaut SVG Application • FOAF Filer • Social Networking (Web 2.0)

  7. Enumservice „foaf“ • Links FOAF data to E.164 number • Allows immediate detection of FOAF file URL • Allows combination of FOAF and ENUM spidering enhancing the search results – assuming FOAF and ENUM to be widely deployed ... ;-) • Allows detection of a huge variety of a person‘s metadata by means of that person‘s phone number • Introduces ENUM to the Semantic Web

  8. How does it work? Screenshot of PHOAF Prototype (as presented at ISWC2005)  Enter phone number  Start Query
