Formative assessments • Formative assessment is “the process of uncovering and understanding what students know in order to determine the best path to learning.”What Teachers Really Need to Know About Formative Assessment, L. Greenstein, 2010, ASCD. • Formative assessments are; • Student focused by concentrating on how students receive and understand information, focusing on individual achievement and offering all students opportunities for improvement. • Instructionally informative allowing for intentional selection of instructional strategies, guiding instruction and embedding assessment in instruction. • Outcome based by emphasizing outcomes, closing the gap between what students know and the desired outcomes and providing actionable feedback.

Our END targets • Writing Targeted Skill All students will be able to provide a constructed response that produces a clear and coherent writing; focusing on organization, ideas and sentence fluency.
