Why Use a Flip Type camera in the Classroom • It's small size makes it easy to handle. • It can record up to 60-120 minutes of video. • Its a good way to let children try to explore their creativity and create videos for assessment.
And more reasons….. • It's easy for Students to use! • It's an easy gadget for the technologically challenged. • Videos can be easily uploaded to SchoolTube, YouTube, or Teacher Tube. • It's a way to capture the here and now

Let’s Discuss How you can use the Flip in your classroom?
Some students need a storyboard to help set up the video sequence • Graphic organizers such as a series of illustrations or images • Displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, etc • (definition from Wikipedia.com) Storyboards
Some suggestions: Stand within 4 feet so you get good quality video and audio. Have a supply of rechargeable batteries and a good recharger. It is much easier if students create videos in one take, as dealing with several files from several groups can get confusing and messy. All files should be saved on the computer and then deleted on the camera.
Time line for one class period • 15 minutes for the storyboard • 15 minutes to film (need time for retakes) • 10 minutes to upload video/create • movie • 1-3 minutes to share

Let’s Play!! • Can you: • Locate batteries ; take off the cover and replace it • Turn the Flip on • Record something zooming in and out • Play back what you just recorded • Delete the video • Locate open and close the USB arm or the plug in for the USB cord
In your group, each member will take a 20 second video of someone in the group Introduce yourself, Tell us where you teach and what you teach
Upload your video to Movie Maker • 1. plug in flip or use memory card to upload your video into your laptop. (for those that have one) • Choose the DCIM folder NOT THE FLIP FOLDER • open folder to save the video to your files • Close it and open Windows Movie Maker
Time to play with Movie Maker • Import your video file to moviemaker • Play with the Movie maker setting • When you are finished , you must save as a project and then save as a movie….wmv • When you are done, put your video on our usb drive to share with the group
