History of Platensimycin Derived from Streptomycesplatensis, platensimycin is the most potent FabF (an enzyme) inhibitor. It’s best known use is as an antiseptic against bacterial infections. For instance, if a patient with Staphylococcus aureus is treated with platensimycin, then the Staphylococcus aureus is completely killed.
