CBC Conformance Testing and Interoperability Issues • Interface 1 – Base Station Standards • Communication with BSC manufacturers is required • Conformance Testing normally occurs using BSC simulators, or Test BSCs or at the Customer Site • Cost of BSC activation for CBC is questionable, as is the quality of some BSC configurations. • There are some performance issues with BSCs • We need buy in from the manufacturers to CBC. • We need better access to standards and testing facilities
CBC Conformance Testing and Interoperability Issues • Interface 2 – Handset / SIM issues • Need for CBC download support to be standardised • Storage of CBC profiles of the SIM made standard (channels etc) • Un-Intrusive Receipt of Class 2 Messages as standard • The need for a published list of CBC compliant handset / SIM combinations • Question to Handset manufacturers : what sort of resources are they willing to commit to standardisation of CBC? Will it be a ride along?
