  2. So you're planning a trip to Vienna , Austria, and need some travel inspiration to get started? Then the list of activities we have compiled is just right for you! From palaces to obscure museums and elegant cafes to vineyards in the area, we have put together what we believe are the best activities you can do in Vienna! We are sure that there will be something for every taste. Strolling along the Ring Road - This boulevard, known as a tourist ring road, surrounds Vienna's Old Town. The street is located where the city's medieval fortifications used to be, and is a beautiful part of the city to explore on foot as it is lined with parks, museums, palaces and numerous historic buildings. The St. Stephen's Cathedral visit - This distinctive Romanesque-Gothic cathedral with a colorful roof you should definitely marvel at close range. The best way is to take the elevator up and enjoy the breathtaking view of Vienna.

  3. Visit the Café Sacher - Who does not know the famous Sacher Torte. This treat is nothing but a dense chocolate cake filled with a thin layer of apricot jam and covered with a dark chocolate icing. That's the one cake you have to try in Vienna! Visiting the Mozarthaus - Although the famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, he also lived in Vienna for several years. Today you can visit the Mozarthaus in Vienna, which is located in Domgasse 5. There lived probably the most famous composer of Austria from 1784 to 1787. Visit a concert in the Peterskirche - The Peterskirche is a baroque church in the free organ concerts (donations are welcome) but also regular concerts of the classical Viennese ensemble take place. For the latter, however, you have to get tickets.

  4. Visit the Imperial Palace - This was the imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty and it is one of the most striking sights in Vienna. The Hofburg was built in the 13th century and later expanded many times over the years. To visit the Sisi Museum, the Imperial Apartments and the famous silver collection you have to get a ticket. Do not miss a visit to this attraction. Exploring the Roman ruins at Michaelerplatz - Yes, that's right; Roman ruins just a few shades below the modern city! They are located on the square in front of the Hofburg and have been identified as the ruins of a brothel for the Roman garrison.

  5. Marvel at theLipizzaners in the Spanish Riding School - Lipizzans are a breed of horse bred by the Habsburgs in the 16th century. You can watch how the horses and their experienced riders perform the "Ballet of White Stallions" in the Winter Riding School in the Hofburg. Discover Vienna during a carriage ride - One of the most popular things to do in Vienna is a carriage ride in one of the city's famous Fiacs. You can find these traditional carriage rides around the Stephansplatz and the Hofburg.  Take a walk through the Volksgarten Park in Vienna - The Volksgarten is a public park in Vienna and a nice place for a walk between all sights. There is a beautiful rose garden and you can actually sponsor a rose bush to tell someone that you love him or her! At the northern end of the park is a statue of Empress Sisi, the most famous empress of Austria-Hungary. Try Viennese specialties at the Würstelstand - definitely try the notorious Käsekrainer at a sausage stand. If you would like to taste street food, then you should definitely try the Wiener Käsekrainer. This is a special sausage filled with small pieces of cheese. A list of some of the best sausage stands in the city can be found at every touristic information.

  6. Riding the Ferris Wheel in the Vienna Prater - This Ferris wheel dates back to 1897 and was the tallest existing Ferris wheel in the world from 1920 to 1985! The gondolas squeak and sway, and if you do not like heights, you should still get carried away. You have a really amazing view of Vienna from up there. Order a Wiener schnitzel - Another dish that you should absolutely try on your Vienna visit. This dish is a thin breaded veal escalope, which is offered in almost every restaurant. Press a small lemon on top and voila! It's best to eat this specialty with potato salad and ... by no means destroy the unbelievably good taste with sauces like ketchup and more.
