DANI was set up to increase the linkages and information sharing among NGOs and government agencies working in disaster risk management and advocate for CBDRM
4. At that time, there was:
A large group of DRR agencies
A large scale of operation (nationwide)?
A diverse range of activities (CBDRM, advocacy, awareness raising, etc)?
A great pool of experiences, knowledge and resources
But a common goal of improving the effectiveness of DRR in Vietnam

how can they share the all the best practices and get the message to the policy makers?

And finally an initiative born to accommodate the goal: advocacy through a network, in addition to normal projects
Network is set up among agencies getting funding from DIPECHO, and thus “D” in the title DANI.

JANI is the son born to fulfill the rest of the mission that his father has given – DANI was evaluated as a successful model for sharing and advocacy:
The goal: improve the effectiveness of DRR in Vietnam
Objective: strengthen CBDRM implementation and advocacy through effective networking and joint initiatives

It takes a horizontal approach, not a vertical approach: looking at what your neighbors are doing, can I share with them, can they join us, etc? ? a lot on sharing
It has no specific project locations: unlike your projects where you work side by side with beneficiaries. ? it will be hard to measure impact on beneficiaries

Sharing information: do share with us information on tools, techniques, best practices on CBDRM, and visit our website to get interesting information
Join with us in different workshops, trainings and awareness raising activities
Support us in getting the CBDRM institutionalised in the Gov legal documents, legislations, policies.
Get the message across to a wide audience: CBDRM is cheap, easy but still can save lives.
