  1. What would Independent Support (IS) or Information, Advice and Support (IAS) offer? Independent Support The Independent Support Service can:- • Support with the process of applying for an EHC needs assessment • Support transfer reviews for those transferring from a statement to an EHCP • Provide information to families regarding the application for an EHC needs assessment and what to expect at each stage of the process • Offer support to enable families to participate as fully as possible in this process

  2. What would Independent Support (IS) or Information, Advice and Support (IAS) offer? Independent Support • Support communication with the professionals involved • Support parents, carers, children and young people to express their views • Support families to prepare for and attend EHC planning meetings • Signpost to local and/or national sources of information, including the Local Offer

Information, Advice and Support The Information, Advice and Support Service (formerly Parent Partnership) can provide impartial and confidential information and advice on:- • SEND local policy and practice • The Local Offer • Personalisation and personal budgets • Legislation relating to SEND • Options and routes to resolving disagreements or making complaints, including formal mediation and tribunal

  6. What would Independent Support (IS) or Information, Advice and Support (IAS) offer? Information, Advice and Support The Information, Advice and Support Service (formerly Parent Partnership) can provide impartial and confidential information and advice on:- The IAS Service can:- • Ensure the views of parents, carers, children and young people are heard • Help families prepare for meetings with education providers (such as schools and colleges) and other relevant organisations and/or agencies • Offer a range of training and events which are focused on SEND related topics • Signpost to relevant local and national sources of information, advice and support • Help families plan and prepare their contribution for an EHC needs assessment or plan
