ABOUT THE DISABILITY EQUALITY INDEX www.DisabilityEqualityIndex.org 17
WHAT WE ASKED In a study by Accenture, conducted in partnership with Disability:INand the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), we set out to investigate: Do companies that include people with disabilities perform better financially? To find out, we took an in-depth look at companies participating in the Disability Equality Index (DEI) over the past four years. 19
WHAT WE FOUND Our research found a correlation does exist. Companies that embraced best practices for including people with disabilities also performed better financially – outperforming other companies in revenue, net income, and economic profit margins 20
DEI SCORECARD This scorecard is a high-level summary of your company’s score results and includes the multiple-choice responses you self-reported via the online DEI system. 22
WHAT YOUR SCORE MEANS Congratulations on earning a top score on the DEI! This is a testament to the culture of inclusion your company is building. We encourage you to share your score with your employees, stakeholders, board of directors, senior leadership, customers, and suppliers. Once you’re ready to dive back in, we’re here to help meet you where you’re at and to continue building a culture of inclusion for all people. 23
WHAT YOUR SCORE *DOES NOT* MEAN 100% on the DEI does not constitute as a “perfect score”. There is always room to advance disability inclusion 24
