Scholarly Paper [Syllabus, page 4.] - Your topic is “to explore your personal ideas, values and beliefs regarding the practice of nursing. - Your paper will be structured around the metaparadigm of nursing concepts. - You are encouraged to reflect upon the development of your ideas since the start of the program. - You will conclude with a summary of your current philosophy of nursing. - 4-6 double-spaced pages (excluding cover page and references). - 4 scholarly sources (peer-reviewed journal articles) – one for each metaparadigm concept. - Due in Week 4 of the Winter semester.

  5. Free Writing Write whatever comes to mind. Allow your ideas to flow from one to the other, don’t worry about containing yourself too much. Free writing is useful because it can help you: Develop your ideas for an assignment or a topic Start the process of formal research and writing by providing you with a starting place.

  6. Free Writing What do I think being a nurse means? What are the values that I believe are important to nursing? Why is each one important? What do you believe the role of a nurse is in a clinical environment? A non-clinical environment? In society at large? What would make a person an ideal nurse? What ideas have you been introduced to so far in your nursing education that you hope to incorporate into your future practice? Are there values or ideas about being a nurse that you question? Or that you do not understand?

  7. Free Writing Reflect on your writing: Write a list of between 3 and 5 points from what you wrote that might form part of your philosophy of nursing. Think about how you would relate each of the concepts of the nursing paradigm to your philosophy.
