According to facts, up to 60% of the adult human body is made up of water. The distribution of water in our body is in a way that our brain and heart is composed of 73% water, lungs are 83% made up of water, 64% water is in the skin, 79% for muscles and kidneys and at last 31% of even our bones are also composed of water.

  1. Importance of Water for Life According to facts, up to 60% of the adult human body is made up of water. The distribution of water in our body is in a way that our brain and heart is composed of 73% water, lungs are 83% made up of water, 64% water is in the skin, 79% for muscles and kidneys and at last 31% of even our bones are also composed of water. Why does then a human require water for life? Varying according to an individual’s age group, everyone requires a particular quantity of water for life. For example, a kid generally requires around 3-4 liters per day whereas an adult requires 5-6 liters of water per day for survival. This is because, a human body loses water due to various activities like breathing, sweating, digestion, etc. and drinking water is crucial to rehydrate the body.

  2. Protection of Tissues, Spinal Cords and Joints Along with quenching our thirst, water keeps the tissues moist as well. Water helps the body retain the optimum levels of moisture in the sensitive body parts like eyes, mouth, and nose along with doing the same for blood, bones as well as the brain. Moreover, water helps to keep the spinal cord safe along with working as a lubricant and cushion for the joints preventing unwanted conditions like arthritis. We can see how important is water for life and the body.

  3. Helpful in Excretion of Waste from Body Water is used by the body during sweating, urination process, and bowel movements. Sweating helps to regulate body temperature. Kidneys, which are called the filters of the body, filter out the waste through urination. Keeping the body hydrated helps kidneys work efficiently and prevent the occurrence of kidney stones. Moreover, water helps the proper and healthy bowel movement as well as preventing situations like constipation and piles.
