The Pañacocha Protected forest is recognized for an extremely high diversity of bird species. More than 550 species of birds have been observed in the intact forest and along the easily accessible banks of the black-water Pañayacu river and Pañacocha lagoon.
The Yuturi Conservation Group, PañacochaFoundation and San CarlosFoundation, are working together to help the implement the conservation measures of the Management Plan for the Pañacocha Protected Forest.
