  2. Facts: • Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun. • So far life has only been discovered on earth!

  3. Facts: • Earth is the only planet in our solar system that has water on it. • Out of all the planets it has the highest density.

  4. Earth is believed to be 4.6 billion years old, and it has transformed many times.

  5. Length of year: 365.25 • Average temperature at core: 5000-7000 degrees Celsius • Size: 5th largest planet • Diameter: 7,926 miles (12,742 kilometers)

  6. Earth is believed to be 6 quadrillion kilograms in weight. • Hawaii is moving toward Japan at a rate of 10cm per year because of the different tectonic plates. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=uGcDed4xVD4

  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W47Wa7onrIQ • You would need to travel at 6.95 miles per second to escape the Earth’s gravitational pull. This is equivalent to traveling from New York to Philadelphia in about twenty seconds.

  10. Approximately 40,000 tons of meteoric dust hits the Earth each year.

  11. Astronauts brought back about 800 pounds of lunar rock to Earth. Most of it has not been analyzed.

  12. Quiz • How fast would you have to travel to escape Earths gravitational pull? • How many tons of meteoric dust hits the earth each year? • What ocean is the saltiest of all? 4) Is earth the only planet that has water on it? 5) How old is earth believed to be?
