  2. What makes you a better person? What makes a wonderful life ? a successful life ? What would you consider: wonderful ? successful ? essential ?

  3. According to your designer in terms of your design • to worship God • to be nurtured by God • to live & grow in the Body • to reach out to others

  4. These are not about ‘doing’ but about ‘being’ Not enough to know about them. Need to drill them in so as to live them out

  5. Try resolutions that’s worth it • to worship better: • deliberate preparation, • focus on in-take, • take the praise-songs into your life

  6. Try resolutions that’s worth it • to learn & live-out God’s Word: • read into your heart (try ALJ5) • actively learn in Sunday School • live out what you learn

  7. Try resolutions that’s worth it • to live out the BodyLife: • try to open up myself • practice love & forgiveness • get into a BodyLife group

  8. Try resolutions that’s worth it • to commit to ReachingOut: • be interested in a friend’s salvation • willing to talk about your ‘story’ • involve in a missions/social project

  9. Can I just specialize in 1 ? Why do I need all 4 ? • We are created / designed • to be a 4-dimensional creature • Lacking any 1 of the dimensions • we’ll be reduced to nothing

  11. Relational role - also multi-dimension: • son • brother • husband • father • grand-father Can you specialize? Or should you be all-rounded

  18. How so? (1) What is the church ? Ans: We are the church

  19. (2) The mandate of the church is: to fulfill God’s design in the members (Col.1:9, 25) • in terms of: • being a vital Christian • developing the gift(s)

  20. (3) What is the goal / vision of the church ? Can it be something that has nothing to do with you? Can it be something that is not in terms of your goals?

  21. Goals of the church – properly framed: How the members are helped in fulfilling God’s design: • in inspiring Worship • in motivating teaching & • practicing of the Word • in loving BodyLife • in compassionate ReachOut

  22. The church – as an institution provides the platforms the programs The church – as a people provides the living the beings The 2 work together

  23. (4) How will these make our church distinctive ? What should we be aiming for: - being distinctive? - or being good?

  24. (5) Is this ‘it’ ? Can this be good enough for our church? Yes & No Yes: according to the Designer No: there’s always much more for every single aspect

  25. What will Paul say if he were to write to us ? Col. 1 (A) We are doing well (B) We can do much better

  26. What then will be the vision for SCBC ?
