Comments on proposed paper manuscript Libor Nozka
Updates and corrections • Main corrections: • description of vertex phi distribution (wing -> region), • extension studies focused now on whole quartz L-qbar (instead of combined version with air guide), • Updates: • slight changes in text arrangements, • figure updates
Studies 1 (comparisons) • Updates: • add hit count dependency on vertical offset of regular L-qbar, cut version to see signal improvement comparable to reference straight bar
Studies 1 (comparisons) Updates: 2. vertex phi distribution is now divided into regions (not wings) because phi wings can lie in more than one regions; regions are divided according to profile shape of whole quartz L-qbar phi distribution (red histogram in figure below) Note: Interestingly, combined versions with air guide does not occupy side regions (see green histogram in figure)
Studies 2 (extension studies) • Updates: • only whole quarz L-qbar studied to simplify things, other cases (QR, AG – both with air guide) have significantly less hit count which is mentioned but not analysed in next
Studies 2 (extension studies) Updates: 2. phi distribution is of course very different - extension resulted in extension of the side wing in side region into direct region to fill gap there. The same fact stood for negative region. This wing extension gave higher hit count 408 per event compared to 293 for regular un-extended L-qbar (factor 1.4). We can also deduce that head of the side wing reached the sensor faster by 200 ps compared to un-extended L-qbar. This means a compression of the whole signal in time.
Studies 2 (extension studies) Updates: 3. PDE characteristics added - Extended version of regular L-qbar gives slightly higher statistics of detected photoelectrons compared to reference straight bar (37 vs. 33 pde, factor 1.1) and 1.4 times higher compared to regular L-qbar.
Studies 3 (sensor histograms) Updates: 1. this chapter was shortened and histograms are now valid for extended version of whole quartz L-qbar
Next steps • I have got email by Andrew with comments, • these will be implement together with changes mentioned (latter almost done in manuscript), and I will send you (version 7) • I would publish in Optics Express (high IF) • Please send me your affiliation and acknowledgement text
