Local Minimum Qualifications? Can a district have its own minimum qualifications? Yes – sort of... A district can establish additional qualification that are more rigorous – a higher minimum.
Examples A higher degree could be required. Some degree options specified in the minimum qualifications might be excluded. Credit Vs Noncredit Some disciplines not used or hired. Specific experience requirements.
Equivalencies • Title 5 Section 53430 • May hire an individual who “possesses qualifications that are at least equivalent to the [state] minimum qualifications.” • “The process, as well as criteria and standards…shall be developed and agreed upon jointly by …the [local] governing board and the [local] academic senate.”
