Rome Under Constantine • Follows Diocletian (many reforms) • Extends religious toleration to the Christians, who had previously been persecuted • His tolerance of the Christians is significant—Christianity becomes the lasting legacy of the Roman Empire to the modern west • Moves the capital from Rome to Constantinople
